Description
Dasatinib tablets (70 mg) are a medication used primarily for the treatment of chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML) and acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL), especially in patients with the Philadelphia chromosome (Ph+) mutation. Dasatinib is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor that works by blocking the BCR-ABL fusion protein, a protein produced by the Philadelphia chromosome, which is responsible for the abnormal growth of leukaemia cells.
The 70 mg dosage is typically taken once daily, as prescribed by a healthcare provider. Common side effects may include fatigue, fluid retention, nausea, diarrhoea, headaches, low blood counts (leading to increased risk of infections, anaemia, or bleeding), and heart-related issues. Regular monitoring, including blood tests and heart function assessments, is essential to manage any side effects and ensure the effectiveness of the treatment.
